This Sunday the 20th July s a fast day known as Shiva asar B'tamuz; a fast commemorating five calamities, including the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem during the Roman siege that led to the destruction of the Holy Temple. The fast begins at 5:47 am and concludes at 5:51pm

Welcome to the East Melbourne Hebrew Congregation - the Jewish Heart of the City and the gateway to Jewish Melbourne. Known as the Melbourne City Synagogue, it is modern orthodox and the only Shule in the inner city area. The historic and architecturally significant synagogue is within walking distance from the city's hotels, hospitals and universities and serves as the City's Jewish Centre.
